Each answer is a short form of the page it links to, and that page is the one to rely on: the Terms of Service, with the Refund Policy, are the agreement between you and us.
Plans and prices
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Analyst is the free plan: free forever, with no card required. What each plan includes is listed on Plans & pricing.
What do Pro and Desk cost?
List prices, in US dollars: Pro is $15 a month or $144 a year. Desk is $25 per seat a month or $240 per seat a year, for 2 to 10 seats. If sales tax or a similar tax applies, it is shown at checkout.
The price, billing period and renewal terms shown on Plans & pricing, and again on the checkout page before you pay, are the ones that apply to your subscription. See Plans, prices and billing.
What if we need more than 10 seats?
That is Enterprise, sold under a separate written agreement. Write to hello@themarketterminal.com to talk about it. See Plans, prices and billing.
What does Soon mean on Plans & pricing?
Not live yet. Anything marked Soon is not built or not live yet, and is not part of what you buy. See The service.
Free trials
Do the free trials need a card?
No. A first subscription starts with a free trial: 7 days on Pro, and 14 days on Desk for the number of seats you choose. No card is needed to start one, and nothing is charged during it. See The free trials.
What happens when a trial ends?
If you add a card in the billing portal, you are charged the price you chose, monthly or annual, when the trial ends, and the subscription renews from then on unless you cancel before the trial ends. If you add no card, the trial simply ends: nothing is charged and your account moves to the Analyst plan. For a Desk trial, the desk’s seats end with it.
Cancelling during the trial costs nothing. See The free trials.
Can I have a second free trial?
No. There is one trial per customer, whichever plan it was on: an account, or a Stripe customer, that has subscribed before does not get another. See Plans, prices and billing.
Billing, cancelling and refunds
How do I cancel?
Sign in, open Account, choose Manage billing, and cancel in Stripe’s billing portal. You can also email hello@themarketterminal.com and we will cancel for you.
Cancelling stops future renewals. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for; then your account moves to the Analyst plan. See Automatic renewal and cancellation.
What happens to my saved data if I cancel?
It stays in your account, with the Analyst plan’s features and limits. See Automatic renewal and cancellation.
Do you refund a monthly plan?
We do not refund or credit part of a month. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and your plan stays active until the end of the month you have paid for. See Monthly plans.
Do you refund an annual plan?
If you ask within 14 days of the first charge for an annual subscription, or within 14 days of an annual renewal charge, we refund that charge in full. The refund ends the subscription, and your account moves to the Analyst plan.
After those 14 days, cancelling stops the next renewal and your plan stays active until the end of the year you have paid for. We do not refund part of a year. See Annual plans.
How do I ask for a refund?
Email hello@themarketterminal.com from the address on your account, with the date and amount of the charge. Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe, and we confirm by email when a refund has been issued. See How to ask for a refund.
Can I change seats, plan or billing period?
Yes, in the billing portal: you add or remove seats, switch between Pro and Desk, and move between monthly and annual billing there. Stripe works out any charge or credit for the rest of the current billing period according to the billing portal’s settings, and shows it to you before you confirm.
Lowering the seat count below the number of people on the team does not take effect in the terminal until members are removed. See Desk seats and plan changes.
What if a renewal payment fails?
Stripe retries it for a period and your plan stays active meanwhile. If it still cannot be collected, the subscription ends and your account moves to the Analyst plan. See Plans, prices and billing.
What if I see a charge I do not recognize?
Email us first: we can usually put it right faster than a card dispute can. If you dispute a charge with your bank or card issuer instead, we may suspend the account while the dispute is open, and a charge reversed through a dispute ends the subscription it paid for. See Charges you do not recognize.
Data and alerts
How current are the quotes?
Quotes are delayed, typically by up to 15 minutes depending on the exchange, and are never real-time. Some data is late by nature: 13F filings, for example, are due 45 days after the quarter they report. See Market data is provided as is.
Where does the data come from?
Delayed quotes and price charts come from Yahoo Finance. Economic data comes from FRED, the U.S. Treasury and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics; filings, and the statements built from them, come from SEC EDGAR; and crypto data is provided by CoinGecko. The Data sources page lists what each one supplies, with the notices they ask us to show.
How often are alerts checked?
Price and day-% alerts are checked on our servers every 5 minutes from 4:00 AM to 8:00 PM ET on weekdays, and hourly at other times, using delayed quotes, and reach you by email or browser push as you choose. They aren’t real-time. A page of the terminal that is open also checks them, about once a minute.
Filing alerts are checked against SEC EDGAR about every 15 minutes from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM ET on weekdays, and hourly at other times. Never rely on an alert to protect a position or to place a trade on time. See Alerts are delayed and not guaranteed.
When does the Market Intelligence Bulletin arrive?
It is free by email, sent after the US close, only when one of the desk’s signals crosses its threshold. A quiet day sends nothing. Sign up on the Newsletter page.
Is any of this investment advice?
No. Everything on the service is general information for research. None of it is investment, financial, legal, tax or accounting advice, and none of it is a recommendation, solicitation or offer to buy, sell or hold any security, fund, crypto-asset or other investment. We are not a broker-dealer or an investment adviser. See Not investment advice.
Can I use figures from the terminal in my own work?
You may use reasonable excerpts of what you see and export (figures, charts, tables and CSV files) in your own work, including internal memos and materials for your investment committee or your clients, as long as they keep the source and as-of they carry, are not redistributed in bulk, and are not a substitute for the service or the original source. See Acceptable use.
Your account and security
What if the confirmation email does not arrive?
An account signs in for the first time only after its email address is confirmed from the link we send. It can take a minute or two: check spam or junk. If you used Hide My Email or another forwarding address, look in the inbox it forwards to. On a work address, your firm’s mail filter may be holding it: ask IT, or use another address. The Check your email screen you see after signing up has a Resend email button. See Signing in.
Does it connect to my broker or custodian?
No. The Market Terminal connects to no broker, custodian or bank, and asks for no client names, account numbers or tax IDs. The Portfolio Tracker only calculates figures from holdings and transactions you type in. See What we store, and what we never hold.
Do you store my card?
No. We never see or store a card number: Stripe takes payment on its own pages, and we receive only your Stripe customer and subscription IDs and the state of your subscription. See Payments.
Is there two-step verification?
Yes, on every plan, Analyst included, with any authenticator app that shows 6-digit codes. Turn it on from your Account page, under Sign-in security. With it on, signing in, opening billing and changing your desk’s seats all ask for the app’s code.
There are no backup codes yet. If you lose the device with the app, email hello@themarketterminal.com from your account’s address; we check that the request comes from you before removing the app from the account. See Two-step verification.
Do you have SOC 2 or single sign-on?
Not yet. We hold no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 report, and single sign-on (SAML or OIDC) is not built: it is on the Desk plan roadmap and is not part of what you buy today. If your firm sends a security questionnaire, write to hello@themarketterminal.com and we will answer it with what is true today. See What we do not have yet.
Can colleagues share one sign-in?
No. An account is for one person: do not share your sign-in with anyone, colleagues included. The Desk plan exists for teams, and each of its seats is for one named person, though a seat may be reassigned when someone leaves the team. See Accounts.
Does the site use cookies or tracking?
The site sets no cookies of its own and carries no advertising or cross-site tracking. Our page analytics are our own, store no IP addresses, and send nothing at all if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. Pages run by others that you reach from the site, such as Stripe’s checkout and billing pages, follow their providers’ own policies and may set their own cookies. See What stays in your browser.
Can I export or delete my data?
On the Account page, Export data downloads your watchlist and alerts. To see, correct, export or delete the rest of your information, email hello@themarketterminal.com from the address on your account. We reply to these requests within 30 days.
To close your account, email us from the address on it: we will cancel any paid plan and delete the account as the Privacy Policy describes. See Your rights and choices.
About The Market Terminal
Who is The Market Terminal for?
Family offices and small wealth teams who already run a portfolio system. It is the research half of your workflow, not a book of record: it does not hold your positions or execute trades. See About.
What is the design partner pilot?
The Desk plan free for a fixed period, for weekly use and feedback calls. When the pilot ends, every seat goes back to the free Analyst plan unless you subscribe to Desk: nothing renews or charges by itself. Read the terms and apply on the design partner pilot page.
Who runs The Market Terminal?
BRB Capital LLC, a Virginia limited liability company. Write to hello@themarketterminal.com. See About these terms.
